A Tulsa family is getting to see their soldier son in Iraq for the first time in more than 4 months. Actually, millions of people got to see him.

News on 6 reporter Steve Berg says that is because Patrick Oglesbee appeared in a story Tuesday night on the CBS Evening News.

The News on 6 talked to his mom and his brother, who talked about his "13" seconds of fame. Sherry Choate was at a salon getting her nails done, when she heard a familiar name. "And I turned and looked and he was on TV and it had his name, Sgt. Patrick Oglesbee. And I was so excited, I said, it's my son, it's my son."

Sherry says she's not as worried about Patrick this time as she was during his first tour, but just two weeks ago, she says they'd gotten word his face was cut by shrapnel, and she worried he might be disfigured. "He told me it wasn't, and I couldn't really see him, but it was good to see his grin that he's had since he was a little boy."

Sherry says Patrick wanted to be a soldier since he was four. His brother Adam also served in the military. "It's probably been since June, since the middle of June since we'd last seen him." He too was relieved to see that Patrick looked okay. Although he says he "sounded" different. "He was kind of putting on his Army voice. I was listening to my voice mail, and I was like, that's not the way he sounds. He kind of puts on a bit of an Army voice, but yeah, he looked pretty good."

And it doesn't surprise them that the reporter chose Patrick. Even though Adam says Patrick's captain tried to keep the media away. "And so they felt like if the Captain didn't want them talking to him, then that was the guy they needed to seek out.â€

Sherry Choate: â€œHe's one of those kind of folks that if you don't want to know what he thinks, you shouldn't ask him, because he's going to tell you."

It was just 13 seconds but they cherish every one.
