One Green Country family touched by the hurricane is reaching out to help others. They're trying to provide crucial information to help hurricane survivors rebuild their lives

News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims says the Wood family's home swelled by 14 people two weeks ago, parents, brothers, sisters, and in-laws all fleeing Hurricane Katrina.

Through those family ties, they discovered hurricane evacuees weren't getting something vitally important, specific information about their homes. The Woods' say hundreds of folks don't know whether their homes are one of the many drowned in toxic flood waters. They don't know when they'll be able to return or what they'll find when they get there. So the Wood family got together with the First Church of Nazarene in Broken Arrow to try to provide some of that information.

Ray Wood says they wanted to provide a central place for evacuees to share stories and updates from home. They even got on the phone to folks in New Orleans and sent people to check on one evacuee's home. Ray Wood: "because he doesn't have a lot of other family down there right now so he's somewhat limited as to the amount of people who can help him out right now so we're more than happy to do it."

There are so many stories of Tulsan's giving back and helping out. The News on 6 talked to one evacuee who is actually a Broken Arrow native. He says he's thankful for the outpouring and now he's trying to look ahead to the future.
