OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Grand River Dam Authority says it might not issue fishing permits in July and August 2006 after a fishing tournament on Grand Lake left 400 dead bass.

The Authority issued a statement yesterday saying that some of the tournaments hosted on Grand Lake could be banned.

Central Pro Am Association President Kevin Bowling says a possible ban in fishing tournaments could cost the lake's economic community $10-million in revenue.

Officials say the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Department discourages summertime bass tournaments because of water temperature and oxygen issues.

Most Oklahoma-based tournament circuits do not hold bass tournaments in the heat of July and August because keeping fish alive for later release is too difficult.
