LOCKESBURG, Ark. (AP) _ A woman who died from burns in a house fire near Lockesburg, Arkansas told rescuers she had set herself on fire in a suicide attempt.
33-year-old Lisa Beasley of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died Wednesday from her burns at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
Sevier County Sheriff John Partain said Beasley was conscious after she was pulled from the home. She was found on the floor of the master bedroom by her grandmother, Ann Tinkes, who heard a smoke alarm and moaning and went to see what was wrong.
Partain said Beasley told Lockesburg firefighter Sandra Potter that she set herself on fire to kill herself.
The sheriff said the investigation is continuing but the evidence points to a suicide.
