Quick work by Tulsa firefighters kept a house fire from spreading to nearby homes Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters got to a home in the 800 block of North Cheyenne and found the homeowner inside trying to put the flames out with a garden house. He was treated for breathing too much smoke.

The fire caused major damage to roof.

Investigators say a cigarette started the fire.
