OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Cleveland County sheriff says state Senator Cal Hobson was given a ride home by sheriff's deputies two weekends ago after he was pulled over during a traffic stop.
Sheriff Dewayne Beggs says Hobson was given a warning after being stopped for driving left of center on Oklahoma 77 south of Norman. Beggs didn't give a reason why Hobson was taken home, other than to say it was at the deputy's discretion and as a courtesy.
Hobson was not at the state Capitol late Monday and was unavailable for comment.
Hobson was replaced as the top Senate leader last month after Democrats had a caucus and discussed the senator's ongoing battle with alcoholism.
Hobson has twice been in treatment for alcohol abuse in the last two years.
