A passing storm system appears to be on track to provide parts of Oklahoma with their best chance of precipitation in some time.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely in central and eastern sections of the state on Saturday night as the system moves through the region, the National Weather Service said. Some of the storms could reach severe levels in northeastern Oklahoma, forecasters said.

A slight chance of showers should linger in the extreme southeast Saturday night as temperatures dip into the 20s and 30s.

The cloud cover should thin out by Sunday, with temperatures again forecast to reach the 50s and 60s.

Skies should turn partly cloudy on Monday and provide a slight chance of rain for northeastern Oklahoma, the weather service said. Temperatures should reach the 50s and 60s by day and range from the teens in the Panhandle to the low 30s in the east Monday night.

Skies should be mostly clear on Tuesday with the mercury peaking in the 50s and 60s before falling back into the 20s and 30s.

Southeastern Oklahoma will have a slight chance of rain on Wednesday. Highs should reach the 50s and 60s, while lows fall into the 20s and 30s.
