OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A state lawmaker says he'll file a bill to increase the fines for arson.

Senator Frank Shurden of Henryetta he'll offer the legislation because of recent wildfires across Oklahoma.

His proposal would raise the fine for first-degree arson from $25,000 to $50,000 and second-degree arson from $20,000 to $35,000.

The fine for third-degree arson would increase from $10,000 to $25,000 and 4th-degree arson would rise from $5,000 and to $10,000.
