OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A former Oklahoma nursing home operator has lost his appeal of his prison sentence for conspiracy.
Dub Jiles argued that his 5-year-3-month sentence for conspiracy to commit money laundering was based on incorrect conclusions about his role in a state Health Department bribery case and about the victims.
But a three-judge panel of federal appeals court judges say witness testimony and Jiles' own recorded conversations support the sentence.
Jiles pleaded guilty to conspiracy in 2003 as part of a plea bargain and he admitted to bribing former deputy health commissioner Brent Van Meter.
A federal judge sentenced Jiles to 63 months after determining he was the ringleader in the scheme.
