Two Tulsa women are recovering after an alert neighbor rescued them from a house fire.
Firefighters responded to the call of a house on fire in the 4600 block of East 37th Place about 9:30 AM Tuesday. The two women, who are 47 and 71-years-old, were inside the home at the time.
A contractor working next door heard noises and then a loud popping sound. When he saw smoke he tried breaking down a door, but couldn't and about the time he saw flames through a window, firefighters showed up. Scott Peck: "I'm glad I was here, I saw two people taken out alive. That's what counts, that's what we live for everyday I suppose."
The women are both in fair condition at local hospitals. Fire officials estimate there to be $10,000 to $15,000 in damage to the home.
The cause is under investigation.
