STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State defensive back Clint Coe says he's optimistic about playing in the Cowboys' opener next Saturday despite major knee surgery during the spring.
Coe tore his anterior cruciate ligament and similar injuries have knocked players out of action for six months or more.
But Coe returned to fall practice wearing a brace and says he's already working with special teams.
Coe says he hasn't practiced yet with the defense and is working to get the leg to 85 percent as strong as his other leg so he'll be allowed to work out at safety.
OSU opens the season next Saturday against Missouri State.
