A few months back, the News on 6 told you about a Pawnee County soldier who sustained critical head injuries in a roadside bombing in Iraq.

The explosion was strikingly similar to the one that critically wounded network anchor Bob Woodruff and both attacks happened within hours of each other.

News on 6 anchor Tami Marler was at a hero's homecoming at the Tulsa International Airport for Shane Nuttle.

Shane Nuttle has been in the fight of his life for the last few months. Returning to his family and friends may be all the medicine he needs to complete his recovery.

It was a long wait for Nuttle's loved ones and just to be ornery, Shane made it a little longer. He put down his suitcase and refused to cross the security line, then the hugs came non-stop.

Shane has gone through extensive surgery and treatment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC and he'll continue with occupational, physical and speech therapy at home.

"Well first of all, I gotta take all these people out to eat and then, after that, just kind of relax and get better."

Shane Nuttle will go to Stillwater for regular therapy sessions. His parents say they don't know how long his recovery will take or how fully Shane will recover.
