Tulsa Police are looking for a man who ran over a person walking on Riverside Drive, then took off.

News on 6 reporter Jennifer Loren talked to another jogger who almost got hit. She takes a look at the safety of Riverside Drive and pedestrians.

"My first thought was, we're going to die this morning." Audrey Alcorn was just inches away from her friend Richard on Riverside Drive.

The two were walking, like they always do, when a truck jumped the curb and headed straight for them."And then I just said, 'Oh my God!' and then I jumped to the side and felt the truck brush my side as it went careening past us."

The truck hit Richard, throwing him several feet to the other side of the trail. In the hospital with several broken bones and a head injury, he's lucky he wasn't killed.

Meanwhile, the driver took off and is nowhere to be found. â€œI know bad things like this happen. But there's no excuse for leaving an accident." By leaving the scene, Tulsa Police say the driver comitted a felony crime. Had he stayed, they say he may have only faced a traffic ticket for making a mistake.

A mistake that they say doesn't happen very often. Tulsa Police Cpl. Steve Wood: â€œthey're very few and far between. Generally the trails there are pretty safe. They're far enough off the road." But the trail that this happened on was far off the road. The speed limit there, however, is 50, which means some people do about 60.

And to people who use the river trail, that can be a deadly speed, but it's a speed police say they don't see changing. "So you can make the speed limit 25 if you want. But nobody's going to drive it."

Tulsa Police are looking for the driver of the truck. It's a silver 80's model Chevy Scottsdale with a black flat bed and a Kansas tag. If you know who drives it, you can call Crimestoppers at 596-COPS and remain anonymous.

Another auto-pedestrian accident sent one person to a Tulsa hospital.

Tulsa Police say a worker for American Waste Control was hit by the driver of a van while he was working near Pine and Xanthus.

That driver also took off and hasn't been seen. The victim suffered some leg injuries.
