The News on 6 takes to the skies in a whole new way. From now on, you'll get a unique perspective on the news from Tulsa's newest and most advanced helicopter.
News on 6 anchor Terry Hood says viewers will be able to see just as much, if not more of the action, from some of the state-of-the-art equipment we have on board.
SkyNews 6 landed for the first time Monday morning at our downtown Tulsa studios.
SkyNews 6 is equipped with a versatile, 360 degree camera, that can capture every angle of the news from the nose of the helicopter. The chopper also has a detailed GPS system, and a transmitter that can reach past the limits of conventional news coverage.
SkyNews 6 pilot Mason Dunn: "You'll be able to get a signal out from about 125 miles, which is almost everywhere in the state of Oklahoma, or Arkansas, or Missouri, wherever we go."
SkyNews 6 is an exciting first step in a plan to launch statewide helicopter coverage. Our sister station in Oklahoma City will debut SkyNews 9 later this month.
