In just a few short hours 2007 will be history. The News On 6's Steve Berg reports the parties will be starting even sooner than that. For New Year's Eve, Tulsans have their choice from formal to casual and everything in between, but if you want to try something new for New Year's, you might try your luck at the casino, which wasn't even an option for New Year's just a few short years ago, but now has a little something for everyone.
"We have dining, fine dining. We have live music. We have the gaming of course. So we're going to have three live venues of music going, country, rock n' roll, jazz," said Kelli Bruer.
For those not in the mood for gambling, a safe bet is a formal ball on New Year's, and they were working diligently to set up the Ice Ball at the Mayo Hotel. Despite the chilly-sounding name, it will be a warm reception with lots of decorations in a setting with unique, old-fashioned flair.
"Well, I just think it's special, the history and just makes you feel you're really going someplace to go to the Mayo for New Year's Eve," said Susan McCalman.
Then again if an Ice Ball doesn't sound right in a year with ice storms and power outages, you might decide you want to dress any old way for the New Year and rock out those frustrations with some loud music and dancing. Several venues, like the Blank Slate downtown, has that covered too.
"It's an all ages show, doors open at 8. Show starts at 10 o'clock, with Ganem, Crooked X, and then the Midwest Kings go on right at midnight," said Jeff Martinson. "If you like rock n' roll music, this is the spot."
Of course you want to get to where you're going safely. If you've have too much to drink, you can call Triple-A for a free tow and ride. That number is 1-800-AAA-HELP.
