TULSA, Oklahoma - A Tulsa couple is helping families do virtual gardening.

The two re-branded their company because of the current COVID-19 restrictions and have been consulting with their clients about their vegetable gardens through video calls.

Laura and her husband have managed to turn their love of vegetable gardening into a full-time business.

"There is something that is just so connecting and calming about being outside in your own space and watching things grow and change and knowing that you took part in that," said Laura Koval.

There are all kinds of vegetables and some berries growing in this soil. The garden is fenced in to keep the chickens and roosters out. It is a space that has brought happiness to their family. Laura and her husband wanted to help other people grow their own happy spaces, so they created Tulsa Vegetable Gardener to do just that.

"We don't do landscaping. necessarily, we help people get set up with a garden that is right for them," said Koval. "We also build really beautiful, handmade, raised beds and we build them right here and that is just us."

They don't leave you to fend for yourself when your garden starts coming to life. Laura checks in and helps you troubleshoot along the way. They also teach classes.

When COVID-19 hit, they kept doing what they do, but started exchanging face-to-face meetings with digital ones. This way, Laura can still see your garden, check on the growth, answer any questions you have along the way and teach classes without anyone having to worry.

"A lot of people are at home right now and I get a lot of feedback from clients that they have wanted to do it for years, but they didn't have time," said Koval.

Technology is helping people stay connected in what can be an isolating time and some people are using that connection to create some happy moments.
