Summer workouts might look a little different for the Golden Eagles as the team deals with COVID-19.
Grad Transfer RJ Glasper's journey to Tulsa might be a long one, but he could be the perfect fit for Head Coach Paul Mills.
With practices being much smaller in numbers, it has allowed ORU Head Coach Paul Mills to learn his team even more.
Point guard and grad transfer RJ Glasper has been around the game for quite a while. He played his first season at Arkansas, then transferred to Arkansas Tech before finally ending up here in Tulsa with the Golden Eagles. Coach Mills hopes he can be a leader for this team while they're still dealing with this pandemic.
"That’s what you want out of players coming into the program you want guys who are eager and who are hungry,” said Mills.
"I feel like I'm a natural leader and I’m naturally vocal. I feel like guys can gravitate to that,” said Glasper.
Not only is his leadership making an impact, but his shooting has already exceeded expectations.
"We do a drill to kind of gauge where guys are at and he surpassed our expectations, and what kind of is standard for an NBA player or an elite college player, he surpassed it."
The only thing Coach Mills and his staff are still working out is how to communicate through a mask.
"We are still trying to figure out how we can blow a whistle. There are some things that we haven't yet figured out."
