The Salvation Army says it's making several changes to the Angel Tree program in Osage and Washington counties this year because of COVID-19.

You can do registration online or over the phone and it needs to be done in the next few weeks. You'll need to have your photo ID, proof of income and residence, and birth certificates for each child. From there, they'll check the application, then let you know when you can pick up the toys.

Captain Ian Carr says they're also planning a drive thru pickup process.

"The Salvation Army is birth out of let's fix a concern or a worry that they have for tomorrow and then maybe, if that's out of the way, they'll come listen to us preach or they'll hear us preach," Carr said. "Nobody's gonna hear us if they're not sure if they're gonna have a Christmas or if they're not sure if their bills are gonna be paid."

Angel Tree registration ends September 30.

The Salvation Army posted an application for Christmas Assistance on its website.
