Monday morning Oklahoma Task Force 1 crews will head to Louisiana as tropical storm Sally moves toward the Gulf Coast.
They will first travel to Baton Rouge and then make their way to New Orleans to assist local rescue crews in any way they can.
Just a few weeks after hurricane Laura barreled through Louisiana, now tropical storm Sally is expected to make landfall with hurricane strength Monday evening. Experts say they expect the storm to then slow to a stall at that point, bringing extensive heavy rain to the Mississippi/Louisiana border.
37 members of Task Force 1 are leaving at 9 a.m. on Monday to be in position to help with rescues by bringing their own swift water rescue boats and search and rescue capabilities. This is their second time assisting in Louisiana this season.
There is no word how long the crews will be in Louisiana but said they plan to be there until they know the public is out of danger.
