The district attorney’s office said that first-degree murder charges against Tyler Reece were dropped in the murder of Rick Holt.

District Attorney Mike Fisher said that there was a plea deal made in 2018 for Tyler in exchanged for testifying against his brother, Jeremy Reece. Jeremy was sentenced to 45 years for murder.

Fisher said he was unaware of the plea deal but had to honor the agreement that was made before he took office.

“My hands were tied,” Fisher said.

The charge of first-degree murder against Tyler has been dropped, but he is still charged with accessory to murder. For that, Tyler was sentenced to two years in jail and 10 years suspended sentence. He has already served that time and will be released Tuesday night.
