Glenpool will still host the BlackGold Days Festival this October, a festival that commemorates the community’s rich oil heritage.
Organizers said the event will feature food trucks, craft booths, local headliners, games and a craft beer garden.
“This is going to be the best BlackGold Days festival of recent history,” Glenpool Chamber of Commerce Director Sydney Bland said. “We couldn’t do it without the City of Glenpool.”
The festival commemorates the gusher of oil that was found in 1905 on a farm owned by Ida E. Glenn. That discovery, known as the ‘Glenn pool’ helped to make the Tulsa area famous for its oil.
The Glenpool Chamber of Commerce said they are “committed to a fun, safe, family-friendly, community-centered and memorable experience for all.” Organizers did not specifically mention any COVID-19 safety protocols.
The 42nd annual event will be held October 1-4 at BlackGold Park in Glenpool. For more information, visit the Chamber of Commerce website here.
