The Community Service Council has continued to serve people in the Tulsa area throughout the pandemic and said they have seen a spike in people needing help during this time.
According to the council it is as simple as pulling out your phone and dialing 2-1-1.
Dialing the hotline will connect callers to someone who will try to help answer the questions of those in need.
Community Service Council CEO Pam Ballard said that at the start of the pandemic there was a 600% increase in caller traffic.
According to Ballard the organization has been a wide resource, from helping people with COVID-19 testing all the way to helping tenants struggling to pay rent.
The hotline can even help people struggling to keep food on the table.
Ballard said, “We always try and get services closest to the person because we know when you’re calling 211 that your resources are very limited, so whether it’s transportation, a time, we certainly want to make sure that we are really getting services closest to the people so we don’t so we don’t want to waste their time or resources.”
Ballard said the organization has nearly 1,200 resource partners so there’s likely an answer for any concern.
The deadline to apply for rent relief in Tulsa has been extended to October 31.
