After more than 60 years in the convenience store business, Tulsa-based QuikTrip is now diversifying into the medical field.

The corporation is planning to open 15 urgent care clinics, called Medwise Urgent Care, across the Tulsa metro.

"We're going to strive to offer exceptional healthcare and compassionate service," said Aisha Jefferson-Smith, Corporate Communications Manager for QT.

Corporate Communications manager Aisha Jefferson-Smith said they opened their first clinic in Coweta back in September.

Right now, they're constructing three others - one in Broken Arrow, one in Wagoner County, and a third at Admiral and Sheridan in Tulsa. Their plan is to have clinics across the metro that offer both urgent and preventative healthcare.

"You can walk in, you can schedule an appointment, you can go onto our website," said Jefferson-Smith.

The clinics will also provide COVID-19 testing, physical exams, and vaccinations among other services. They accept most major insurances, Medicare and Medicaid.

Jefferson-Smith said QuikTrip is always looking for new business opportunities and they feel right now is a good time to expand into the medical field.

She hopes Tulsans who are familiar with the customer service in their stores will try it out.

"I think when we go into this venture, we'll be able to bring our customer service that we've had in our C-stores for so long now into that specific establishment," said Jefferson-Smith.

As part of the expansion, MedWise is currently hiring.

Right now, QuikTrip is focusing the clinics in the Tulsa area but may expand in the future. They are expanding their convenience stores into the Denver market starting in the summer of 2021.
