Just one day ahead of the 2020 election, counties across the state are preparing for a busy day.

In Rogers County, the election board spent the day delivering supplies and counting absentee ballots. Election Board workers said voter engagement is beyond their expectations.

"The engagement that we are seeing from voters is far greater than anything I've seen before," said Julie Dermody, Rogers County Election Board Secretary.

Dermody said they had nearly 150 people hand deliver their ballots on Monday.

"Part of this is normal, but it is exacerbated because at the most we normally get maybe 25 hand delivered for an entire election, we have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds," she said.

On Tuesday, each poll inspector picked up their supplies. Dermody said it consist of ballots and this year, due to the pandemic, PPE.

"They usually came in and got one bag, the machines and their ballots but now they are coming in and getting one bag of stuff and one bag of COVID PPE and then their ballots and everything," Dermody said.

Dermody said one goal for Rogers County is to take care of their voters. In October, she applied for a grant and received more than $46,000 for election day supplies. It includes new signs for polling locations, and buttons for handicapped voters to push for someone to come to their car and help them.

"We do provide those call buttons for those people who can't make it in, or they might be compromised with their immune system, we want them to be able to vote as well," Dermody said.

Dermody said one of the best things you can do on Election Day is come prepared. She encourages voters to look at a sample ballot before coming to vote. To view a sample ballot, click here.
