Rare 'Spirit Of The Rose' Diamond To Be Sold At Auction In Switzerland

A rare diamond is going up for auction in Switzerland this week.

Sotheby's is selling the rare vivid purple-pink diamond called "Spirit of the Rose". It's 14.83 carats making it the largest of its kind ever to appear at auction. Benoit Repellin The Head of Magnificent Jewels at Sotheby's calls the diamond "a true wonder of nature and an amazing discovery".

"So the 'Spirit of the Rose' is estimated 23 to 38 million US dollars, so it's around 1.5 million (US dollars) per carat. So it's quite an attractive price for an amazing stone," said Repellin.

The most expensive pink diamond ever sold was auctioned in 2017 and sold for more than $71 million.
