Oklahoma Highway Patrol Announces New Accountability Program

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol will roll out a new accountability program for state troopers.

OHP says the goal will be to make sure troopers are making the most effective use of their time. The patrol says troopers will still be encouraged to use discretion on issuing warnings and tickets, but the focus will be on more serious problems that endanger the public like drunk driving, reckless driving and excessive speeding.

Troopers will also be credited for things like community engagement and conducting safety programs.
