A local group of Boy Scouts helped spread holiday cheer this week by going out of their way to help those in need.
Troop #945 loaded and transported more than 1,000 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes this week that were assembled by the residents of Montereau Retirement Community. The boxes were then put into cartons by the Boy Scouts at the Jenks Central drop-off site.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of the relief organization Samaritans Purse, it provides local partners with shoeboxes filled with toys, hygiene products, school supplies and more.
