The Muskogee County Commissioners have declared a State of Emergency for the county and issue a COVID-19 advisory.
This declaration is due to the rising number of positive COVID-19 cases in the county.
Officials said it will require people to wear masks while inside Muskogee County buildings, and they strongly recommend wearing face masks while in public throughout the county.
However, officials said there are no penalties or fines.
Commissioners said limited resources, the steep incline in cases, and upcoming peak flu season is what lead to the decision.
The Muskogee City Council will be meeting at 5:30 p.m. to hear a proposal for a mask mandate, for the 6th time.
