We’re in good shape today with slowly decreasing clouds, breezy northwest winds and highs in the lower 50s. The Thanksgiving Holiday also looks fine but active weather will follow this weekend into early next week.
The big upper-level system is exiting the area this morning and will bring gusty northwest winds and cooler weather back into the area today. The clouds may linger this morning along with some patchy drizzle or mist. By afternoon we start to see decreasing clouds and some sun with highs in the lower to mid-50s. Thanksgiving looks great. Morning lows start in the 30s with highs reaching the lower to mid-60s along with south winds near 10 to 22 mph. Another system quickly drops across the plains Thursday evening and brings another front through the state early Friday morning. Moisture will be lacking but a few showers will be possible across extreme southeastern OK or northeast TX during this period. North winds will keep Friday afternoon cool with highs in the lower to mid-50s. Another system is likely to approach the area this weekend and we finally see some better consistency in the data. We’ll be increasing rain chances for late Saturday evening into early Sunday morning before another strong front arrives Sunday midday allowing colder air to arrive into early next week.
The data has been split between a cut-off low to our southwest and a progressive low moving across the area this weekend for the past few days. A consensus of data now supports a strong closed low but progressing across the area late Saturday night into Sunday morning. This should bring some precipitation across the area during this time period but should also exit the area early Sunday morning to midday. Additional changes are still possible. As the low passes east, another strong trough drops down the developing northwest flow pattern and brings colder air across the Missouri Valley with the leading edge making an appearance across Oklahoma Sunday night into early next week. We may also have another glancing blow of cold air for the middle of next week.
Highs Sunday afternoon may stay near 50 but with strong northwest winds from 20 to 30 mph. Monday morning starts in the upper 20s and lower 30s with highs in the mid-40s along with sunshine and gusty northwest winds. Tuesday morning may be the coldest of the season for the metro with temps in the mid to upper 20s with highs reaching 50 by afternoon along with sunny conditions.
Thanks for reading the Wednesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
