OU Grad Among First 100 Cadets To Join The United States Space Force

A recent OU grad is one of the first cadets to join the United States Space Force.

Oklahoma's Own Cash Balke is one of less than 100 cadets to be commissioned this spring. Balke graduated on December 18th with a degree in aerospace engineering and was also a member of Air Force ROTC.

“When I got the news, I was ecstatic because I couldn’t believe it,” Balke said. “It’s a huge honor.”

President Trump signed the Space Force directive in 2019 making it the sixth branch of the U.S. military and the first new military service since the creation of the Air Force in 1947.
