Winter weather forced some health departments, including Tulsa, to postpone COVID-19 vaccinations on Wednesday.

Now, the Oklahoma State Department of Health is reassuring everyone the weather won't impact doses. The state health department says they will not waste any doses because of these cancellations and their top priority is people's safety.

Wednesday morning, the Tulsa Health Department's vaccine operations were canceled because of slick roads. Those scheduled for appointments were notified by email, and their appointments will automatically be rescheduled for a future date. They will not have to go back into the portal and do anything else. Appointments in Mayes County were also postponed today and rescheduled for next Wednesday, February 17th.

Deputy Commissioner of Health Keith Reed says safety is the top priority for health departments across the state, and if you feel uncomfortable getting out for the vaccine - you should stay home.

Reed says these cancellations will not waste any vaccines, as they can remain refrigerated.

“Right now, we're confident that we will be able to reschedule appointments and reallocate supply in such a manner that no waste will occur," said Reed.
