PSO says they will not need to initiate any more blackouts on Monday and they are calling on customers to do what they can to reduce energy.
According to Stan Whiteford from PSO, The Southwest Power Pool told them that they do not need to cut power to another group at this time.
PSO said that the the extreme cold weather continuing through the week, the energy supply may tighten. They said they will make every effort to provide advance notice if an interruption in power is needed.
PSO Oklahoma and OG&E had started rolling blackouts around 1:45 on Monday after the Southwest Power Pool issued a level 3 Energy Emergency Alert, which is the highest alert level. According to The Southwest Power Pool’s website, it “manages the electric grid across 17 central and western U.S. states and provides energy services on a contract basis to customers,” which includes Oklahoma.
SPP has since reverted the alert to Level 2.
PSO Oklahoma serves 232 cities and surrounding counties in Oklahoma.
