The Tulsa Health Department said they've rescheduled all COVID-19 appointments that got canceled because of the winter weather.
The Tulsa Health Department said they should be completely caught up with canceled vaccination appointments by March 3. They said, despite the winter weather, no doses have been wasted.
THD Director Dr. Bruce Dart said they're also getting prepared to vaccinate the next group in Oklahoma's priority plan.
Starting next week, Tulsans with comorbidities and teachers will be eligible for the vaccine. Dart said they'll continue to also vaccinate healthcare workers and Oklahomans 65 and older.
He said more than 50 percent of Tulsa County residents over 65 have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
This all comes as Tulsa County, like the rest of Oklahoma, is seeing a decrease in cases and hospitalizations are also down.
Dart said the percentage growth of Tulsa County residents who have had COVID-19 at any point is slowing down as well.
"As of today, we are 16 days out from the last one percent increase and we have still not reached 11 percent yet,” said Dart. “We are on track to have more than 11 percent test positive within 12 days from now. Almost a month from our last one percent increase."
More than 114,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have now been administered in Tulsa County.
