A voluntary boil order is still in effect for Tulsa water customers, the city said on its Facebook page.

The order is for residents who have experienced low water pressure, who have seen discolored water or who have recently had water service restored after water was shut off for water line repairs.

Officials said the original decision Friday was made after talking with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality.

The order is in place until further notice.

Officials said the order impacts "Tulsa water customers who have experienced low water pressure, are seeing discolored water, and those who have recently had water service restored after their water was shutoff for waterline repairs."

Officials said people who are impacted are asked to take the following precautions:

If your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting the water run until it clears
Boil water intended for consumption for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation - or use bottled water
Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker
Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water
Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled
Supervision of children is necessary while bathing so that water is not ingested
Persons with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians before utilizing the water in a bath or shower setting

Officials said "this is a voluntary boil order issued as a precaution, [and] not a mandatory boil order. In Tulsa, there have been no confirmed water quality violations reported at this time."
