Many Okmulgee County residents are still without water after last week’s winter storms.

Filling stations are now set up through Henryetta, Dewar and Wilson where people can fill up buckets of water to take home.

“We’re actually filling buckets of water up for our house to be able to flush the toilet, dishes, whatever,” resident Erin Henderson said. “It’s a mess.”

The City of Henryetta lost water on Saturday, but for some like Billy Roberts, due to frozen or busted pipes, some have been without water for quite some time.

“Water has been froze for nine days,” Roberts said. “We had it freeze and then, when it thawed, we had a bust and turn our water off, so it’s been hard getting through this weather.”

The City of Henryetta said its water treatment plant is filling tanks to get ready for the water to be restored.

Dewar resident Katlyn Berno said her family has been without water for a week. Berno said it has been hard as she is taking care of her 7-month-old baby at home.

"I don’t think we have any water at home right now to make bottles for the baby,” Berno said.

It's been a challenging week with stores running out of supplies Berno said she needs.

Even without water, she said they are doing their best to get through it.

“We’ve had a lot of support, so we’ve been managing,” Berno said. “We got lucky. We were able to get a few gallons for bottle making and stuff.”

The City of Henryetta is calling for a voluntary boil order until further notice.
