Teachers and school staff members in Tulsa County will start receiving their COVID-19 vaccines on Tuesday. The Tulsa Health Department is expected to give out the first dose at River Spirit Expo at 2:30 p.m.

The state expects around 89,000 educators to be vaccinated as part of Phase 2; this includes 15,000 educators in Tulsa County.

Vaccinating teachers is a combined effort between the Tulsa Health Department, Saint Francis Health System, and Passport Health and Total Wellness.

Total Wellness will give vaccines to teachers in Broken Arrow, Collinsville, Skiatook, Sperry, Owasso, Keystone, Sand Springs, Berryhill, Jenks, Bixby, and EPIC Charter Schools. Passport Health and THD will give vaccines to Tulsa Public Schools, Union, Glenpool, and Liberty. While Saint Francis Health System will give vaccines to private schools in Tulsa County.

The Tulsa County Health Department said it has already given each district's superintendent information on how their staff can schedule an appointment. According to Tulsa Public Schools, teachers must provide proof of employment to be vaccinated. The district should have already sent its staff members an email with a sign-up link for two different appointment sites.

Oklahomans who are 16 or older with comorbidities can also start receiving the COVID vaccine at this time. This includes people with cancer, heart disease, obesity, and Down syndrome.

If you are not an educator, but still qualify to get a vaccine and have not received one, contact your healthcare provider. They can schedule an appointment through their system. You can also use the state's vaccine portal to look for open appointments.
