Long-Time Porter Fire Department Chaplain Laid to Rest

Family and friends remembered the life of Porter Fire Department Chaplain Bobby Jenkins, who had been with the department since 2002.

Jenkins served with his three sons, two grandsons and one granddaughter. Porter firefighters and Wagoner County deputies escorted his body to the church where he was a pastor for 23 years.

His family said while his late wife was battling cancer, he never told them his own cancer had returned.

"My mom was bad, and he wanted us to focus on my mom, so he let his cancer go untreated so that my mom could be taken care of. He pretty much gave his life for my mom,” his daughter Lorrie Turnham said.

Firefighters performed a last call and created a water arch to honor Jenkins.
