Governor Kevin Stitt signed a bill into law that requires high school graduates to pass a U.S. citizenship test before getting their diploma.

The law says school districts have to give students a chance to take the test at least once every school year, starting in eighth grade.

Students only need to get a 60 percent score a single time to meet the requirement, which starts for the graduating class of 2023.

There are exceptions for students who have special accommodations.
