The City of Tulsa is making more than a dozen changes to its animal ordinances. The city has made about 25 changes, many of which pertain to dogs.
Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum started updating the City of Tulsa's Animal Code nearly two-and-a-half years ago with the hope of improving public safety for Tulsa residents and animals.
One of the changes includes the number of pets allowed in one household. People can now own five dogs or cats over four months of age. Previously, no more than three of the five animals could be dogs.
Someone could own more than 5 pets if they take over the pet from an immediate family member who can no longer care for them.
Another change says all dogs must be on a leash when it is not on its owner's property.
Lastly, if your pet has been reported two or more times for being a nuisance you could be forced to pay a 1,200 dollar fine or spend six months in jail.
