A brand new airline will soon be taking off from Tulsa. Breeze Airways launched Friday as the newest airline in the United States.
Tulsa is one of the first 16 cities that Breeze Airways will fly in and out of throughout the southeastern United States.
Breeze Airways will operate three routes from Tulsa International Airport and three from Will Rogers World Airport, flying to New Orleans, San Antonio, and Tampa.
The flights will start taking off in June and July, and tickets are available to book now, for as low as $39. Some of those flights in Tulsa begin on June 4, with special introductory prices as low as $39 one-way.
Oklahoma City's first flight to Tampa will take place July 1. Flights from Will Rogers World Airport to New Orleans and San Antonio will begin July 15.
Breeze Airways is the fifth airline started by David Neeleman, who also started JetBlue Airways, along with airlines in places like Canada and Brazil.
Andrew Pierini said Tulsa International Airport has been preparing to welcome the startup airline for quite a while.
"We've been talking with Breeze for over two years now. Ever since they kind of became into existence and now, to today being the first day of launch of sales for the new airline. It's been a long time coming and really, things have heated up around the last six months with them and so we're excited to secure their service here in Tulsa and we're excited to see where they go in the future,” Pierini said.
There are now seven airline options for Tulsans here at the airport.
According to the new airline, 100 more underserved cities across the nation are under consideration for future service.
