Tulsa Police are looking for two people they say stole four puppies from Petland. The store said the puppies are worth more than $25,000.
The Director of Operations at Petland Ryan Hamel said the two people were in and out of the store in less than two minutes, and now Petland's main priority is making sure the puppies are safe.
Surveillance video shows one suspect smashing the glass at Petland and then running to the back of the store to let the second suspect inside. It shows them then run to the kennels and put two French Bulldogs and two English Bulldogs in tote bags before running out.
"They did not take any time deciding which puppies to take and which ones not, they took one hundred percent of all of our bulldogs," Hamel said.
Hamel said the puppies were only ten to twelve weeks old and are still seeing a vet and getting their vaccinations. He said he believes the suspects intentionally sought out the bulldogs.
"I think if we would have had three, they would have taken three, if we would have had five bulldogs, they would have taken five," Hamel said.
Hamel said he thinks the suspects are now going to resell the puppies and didn't take them home as pets. While this is this first time this has happened at Petland in Tulsa, he said this has become a problem across the country.
"The ease at which people can sell them online has gone up and up as well and so we think that may be one of the factors of why people might be targeting puppies to steal," he said.
Hamel said something like this will not be tolerated, and Petland just wants to make sure the puppies are okay.
"Our main desire is to recover the puppies, so we can make sure they are healthy, and they end up in the best home they could possibly have," he said.
