In just a few days, COVID-19 vaccine clinics will be open for some Green Country students who are 12 and older.

Tulsa Public Schools and St. Francis hospital are teaming up to get shots into the arms of students as they kick off summer break.

"We hope to vaccinate three to five students every five minutes,” St. Francis Health System Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mark Frost said.

Starting next Tuesday, vaccine clinics will be available at Carver and Memorial middle schools. TPS said once people sign up for the first Pfizer dose, they will automatically be signed up for your second appointment. For more information, click here.

Below is the schedule, provided by the district:

Carver Middle School

First Dose: June 1, June 3, and June 10, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Second Dose: June 22, June 24, and July 1, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Memorial Middle School

First Dose: June 2, June 4, and June 9, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Second Dose: June 23, June 25, and June 30, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

St. Francis Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mark Frost said while children 12 and older can get shots elsewhere, the schools will give a sense of familiarity.

"The students are comfortable in that environment. They know where to go. It's less intimidating than going to a doctor's office or another medical clinic. We think this is a great way to do it,” Dr. Frost said.

Broken Arrow Public Schools is also providing a place for students and their families to get the Pfizer vaccine. The district is partnering with the Muscogee Nation for a drive thru clinic at the high school next Friday. Patients need to pre-register online by Wednesday. For more information, click here.

Dr. Frost said St. Francis plans to work with other districts this summer too and is hopeful about the upcoming school year in the fall.

"I'd certainly hope that this vaccination program will pave the way toward a safe return to classroom learning for all the students in our area,” Dr. Frost said.

St. Francis said if you and your child can't make it to the vaccine clinics at schools this summer, the hospital also has its own portal to sign up for appointments at another location.
