After a weekend that was stormy for some and steamy for others, below normal July temperatures are making another stop in Green Country.
Higher storm chances are shifting further south towards the Red River as a weak but notable cold front pushes across Oklahoma, bringing a northeast breeze back to the state. Far southeastern Oklahoma could still see a few showers or storms this morning, but those chances will quickly diminish.
Even with sunshine returning, we’re looking for highs mostly in the upper 80s across eastern Oklahoma for our Monday! An isolated brief shower can’t be totally ruled out late in the day into tonight especially east and southeast of Tulsa, but the chances overall will be lower than the previous few days.
Tuesday looks to follow a pretty similar script as slightly drier air makes its way across the state. We’ll start off Tuesday morning on a pleasant note with lows in the 60s, before bouncing back to the upper 80s Tuesday afternoon. And twice is nice, but three times is even better! Wednesday looks nearly identical too with lows in the mid to upper 60s, highs climbing back around 90 degrees, and reasonable humidity by July standards.
Rain chances look to stay pretty minimal for most of the week across eastern Oklahoma as the higher moisture stays across Texas, though a very weak system could bring a few isolated showers to southeastern Oklahoma from Thursday into Friday. By the end of the week, the more typical July weather will gradually build, with lows in the 70s and highs in the 90s by week’s end.
And just a quick glance further down the line: I’d enjoy these nicer July temps while we’ve got ‘em! We’re seeing stronger signs of the upper-level “heat dome” building right over Oklahoma for the last week of July going into early August, which could give us a pretty notable heatwave as we wrap up the month. Stay tuned on that.
I hope you have a great Monday, Green Country! Stay safe! You can also follow me on Twitter @StephenNehrenz as well as my Facebook page Meteorologist Stephen Nehrenz to stay up to date with the very latest.
