Oklahoma's softball Little League World Series champions arrived back in Green Country Thursday after a historic win against the Virginia team.

The Little League Softball World Series has been around since the 70s. Not only is this the first time Oklahoma won, it is the first time a team from Oklahoma made it to the series to compete for the title.

Moments after getting off the plane, a small crowd was waiting for the team that made history.

"It's an amazing feeling coming back to all this support,” Coach Hayleigh Galvan said.

“I feel great. It feels really awesome to you know, bring it home,” Taylan Starr, who plays shortstop, said.

The Green Country All-Stars, based in Muskogee, is the first team from Oklahoma to win the Little League Softball World Series. The girls beat Virginia Wednesday night 9-to-1, wrapping up their undefeated streak and taking home the big title.

I think they stayed up all night last night,” Melissa Jackson said.

Jackson is the grandmother of player Aubrey Davis. Jackson said she watched the games from Oklahoma watch parties and can't wait to hear about all the moments that weren't on TV.

"I'm so proud of all the girls, but now I just want to hear about the fun that they had when they weren't on the field,” Jackson said.

The win was a proud moment for the athletes, parents and coaches - showing the world what Oklahoma's Own are made of.

"I'm so proud of these girls,” Galvan said. “They stepped up big in big times and showed what Oklahoma can do.”

One of the coaches said many of the girls will go on to play for their high school teams.

The coach also said the team is going to go for the World Series title again next year, in the junior division for girls age 14 and up.
