Students at Braggs Public Schools in Muskogee County are gearing up for their second week of distance learning.

The district closed the campus last week after a number of students had to go into quarantine due to COVID-19.

Students were set to return to the classroom Monday, August 23, but the district said due to a continued rise in COVID cases it needs to extend distance learning for the rest of the week.

Braggs students went back to school in person on August 10th and by August 18th, the district had to switch to distance learning.

The district did not say how many people had to go into quarantine, but called it a "high volume" of students.

School leaders said, "the safety of the students is paramount & will always be at the forefront of decisions."

Braggs Public Schools is now set to start in-person classes again on August 30, but the district said it is still serving lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each afternoon.
