Evictions can now resume across the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic following a ruling from the United States Supreme Court. The Centers for Disease Control re-imposed the moratorium earlier this month.

In a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court determined the CDC does not have the authority to re-impose the eviction ban without approval from Congress. The Census Bureau estimates nearly 3.5 million people across the country could now face eviction in the coming months.

Locally, there are several resources for both landlords and tenants as the moratorium comes to an end.

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program is offered through Restore Hope Ministries. Applications can be completed online for anyone living in several different northeastern Oklahoma counties regardless of income or family size. More information can be found by Clicking Here.

The City of Tulsa is also accepting applications for its Gold Star Landlord Program. It is designed to give incentives and rewards to landlords who engage in the best rental practices.
