Tulsa Police said a 55-year-old man is in the hospital after being hit by a car while walking on the westbound ramp of Highway 412 near Gilcrease Museum Road. Investigators said officers were called to the scene by the driver of the car around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night.
The driver told officers she was coming down the ramp and swerved to miss someone who was walking in the road but ended up hitting another man. Police said she immediately pulled into a nearby convenience store and called for help.
Officers said the other person who was walking on the ramp kept going and they have not been able to find him. The ramp was closed for a few hours during the investigation but has since reopened.
Police said the victim was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
“It’s an extremely busy intersection,” said Lt. Katie Whitehead, Tulsa Police. “We have a lot of pedestrian traffic that walk through here, we have a lot of homeless people that walk through here but also a lot of neighborhood people that walk around.”
Investigators said the driver has been cooperative through the investigation and submitted a voluntary blood test. It is unclear if she will face any charges.
The name of the victim has not been released.
