The Justice for Greenwood Foundation also honored 11 Tulsa churches at the prayer vigil.

They handed out $3,000 checks to churches who were affected by the massacre.

Morning Star Baptist Church Pastor Rodney Goss said he's thankful his church is being recognized for the hardships they've faced.

"It's very significant that they've considered all the other eleven churches and what they have gone through and the generation of wealth may have robbed and the pain that a lot of people have suffered,” said Dr. Rodney Goss.

Morning Star Baptist Church has been in Tulsa since 1916.

The 11 churches include Morning Star Baptist Church, Wesley Chapel Tulsa, Metropolitan Baptist Church, First Baptist Church North Tulsa, Greater Union Baptist Church, Bethel Seventh Day Adventist, Paradise Baptist Church, First Church of God in Christ, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Christ Temple C.M.E. and Vernon A.M.E. Church.
