City Of McAlester Working To Fix Sinkhole On State Highway

The City of McAlester is working to fix a sinkhole near Main Street and East Wyandotte Avenue.

Recently, a lot of rain caused water to back up and seep through the ground to a sanitary sewer line.

The water washed away the road and it collapsed, causing the sinkhole.

The city is waiting to hear back from a contractor about an emergency repair price.

Officials said they hope to start repairs tomorrow.
