Gusty south winds and temperatures way above normal are with us yet again!
You can put the big coat away for a couple of days! Brisk south winds continue for our Tuesday, with gusts of 20 to 30 miles per hour expected for the afternoon hours. Mostly cloudy skies this morning should give to some afternoon sun breaks, with highs around the Tulsa metro pushing into the lower 70s today.
South winds will remain gusty through the night and clear into Wednesday. The strong winds and higher humidity will keep our temperatures running at a record pace on Wednesday, with morning lows in the 60s and afternoon highs in the mid-70s. Even with higher humidity, fire danger will be a big concern Wednesday with south winds gusting to 40 miles per hour.
Our next cold front pushes into Green Country Wednesday night, triggering some scattered thunderstorms. With enough instability hanging around, we could end up with a few strong to severe storms across eastern and southeastern Oklahoma late Wednesday night. Rain and storms will diminish Thursday morning as the front temporarily pushes south, and behind the front we’ll drop closer to normal with highs in the upper 50s Thursday.
Another round of much-needed rain and storms develops on Friday, and again a few could be locally heavy before the late-week cold front pushes back south for a second time. After that, some actual December-like chilly conditions show up, but unfortunately, that’ll happen just in time for the weekend as highs fall back to the 40s Saturday and Sunday.
I hope you have a great Tuesday, Green Country! You can follow me on Twitter @StephenNehrenz as well as my Facebook page Meteorologist Stephen Nehrenz to stay up to date with the very latest.
